The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams will be back in action on Friday night, as they host fellow Eagle companion, West Hancock, at Eagle Grove Elementary School. The West Hancock boys enter at 0-1, while the West Hancock girls, ranked #9 in Class 2A, enter with a 2-0 record.
The West Hancock girls enter Friday, following their season-opening 79-13 win over Lake Mills. Sophomore Mallory Leerar had a phenomenal opening game, scoring 27 points, off of 10 buckets and 5, three-pointers. Senior Kennedy Kelly contributed 19 points as well, including 5, three-pointers of her own. Eagle Grove is fresh off a loss at Forest City, that saw Nadia Kaiser lead the way with 12 points for the Eagles.
On the boys side, the West Hancock boys enter Friday following a season-opening, 50-43 loss to Lake Mills. Ty Peterson led West Hancock with an elite shooting performance, nailing 6, three-pointers against the Bulldogs. The Eagles also return leading scorer Rylan Barnes from last season as well. Eagle Grove comes in following a loss to Forest City, but a promising game that saw the Eagles go toe-to-toe with the Indians for a half of basketball.
Tipoff for the girls game is slated for 6 PM, with the boys to follow.
