The Webster City Lynx basketball teams made the trek to Pocahontas on Tuesday night, to face off with the Indians in their first boys/girls doubleheader of the season. The game was the boys season opener, while the Webster City girls sat with an 0-2 record.
The Pocahontas girls were able to pick up a win in their season-opener, downing Webster City by a score of 65-32. The sensational junior trio for the Indians made up 45 of their 65 points, as Abby Oberhelman led all scorers with 20 points on the night. Livia Kasch led Webster City in scoring with 12 points.
The boys game then took center stage, as Tuesday was the season-opener for both sides. Webster City opened its season on the right note, with 53-43 win over the Indians. Marty McKinney’s defense played strong all night, but the offense took a little while to get going. Jayce Neuroth provided the spark offensively, scoring a game-high 19 points in his first varsity start, while Ty McKinney finished with 14. Gavin Ehn led Pocahontas with 17 points.
The Webster City girls will be back in action on Friday, when they host the Humboldt Wildcats at Webster City High School. The next action for the Lynx boys will be next Tuesday, when they travel to Rockwell City to take on South Central Calhoun.
