When youngsters come to Briggs Woods and Little Wall Lake Parks next year, they will notice new playground equipment on the premises. The Hamilton County Conservation Board Tuesday morning approved a quote from Outdoor Recreation Products of Omaha for the installation of the new equipment at both parks near Webster City and Jewell respectively. Hamilton County Conservation director Brian Lammers said the bid from Outdoor Recreation Products came in at $235,644. Other proposals came from ABC Creative from Des Moines and Boland Recreation in Marshalltown. The new playground equipment will be installed next spring.
An update on the taking down of ash trees at Little Wall Lake was shared at Tuesday’s board meeting. So far approximately 50 ash trees have been cut down with another 25 more to be taken down. The reason is due to concerns with the emerald ash borer disease affecting trees in many sections of Iowa.
Hamilton County Conservation invites everyone to their Candy Cane Hike and Hunt set for Saturday afternoon, December 4 at 1:00 at Briggs Woods Park and Golf Course. This event is being in conjunction with the Christmas in the City event sponsored by the city of Webster City, Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce and Karl Chevrolet.
The next meeting of the Conservation Board will be Tuesday morning,December 21 at 9:30 at the Briggs Woods Park conservation office.
