The Webster City Lynx girls basketball team opens up their season tonight, as they host the Boone Toreadors in a non-conference, rivalry matchup. The Lynx are looking to rebound from a 3-16 record in 2020-21, starting with a Toreadors team that beat them 62-46 last year, and has won 12 of the last 13 meetings in the series.
The Toreadors finished in the middle of the pack in the Raccoon River Conference a season ago, and lost their two top-scorers in Emma Dighton and Emily Ades. Boone will look for returnees such as Emmy Lewis, Morgan Kathman and Natalee Danner, to fill the roles left by the previous senior class. Lewis averaged just over 7.1 PPG in ’20-21, while Natalee Danner averaged 6.5 PPG and just over 3.5 RPG.
Webster City loses a good portion of their scoring from 2020-21, with the departures of Jenna Miller and Leah Kasch. The Lynx do return Kelly Stoakes, who averaged nearly 8 PPG, as well as 3.5 RPG and 2.5 APG. Livia Kasch will look to step into a bigger role, after averaging just 3.7 PPG as a sophomore, and fellow sophomore Alley Odland will also look to improve on her 4.2 PPG from 2020-21.
Tipoff is slated for 7:45 PM at Webster City High School, Jerry Klaver will have the call of the action on 95.7 KQWC.
