The Eagle Grove Girls Basketball team was limited in its success in 2020-21, as they finished with a 5-18 record and finished 7th in the Top of Iowa Conference’s Western Division. The Eagles will graduate many from last year’s team, which will open the door for many new faces on the hardwood this year.
Eagle Grove only returns 3 points of the 34.8 points per game average from 2020-21, and most of that belongs to junior Braxton Steil, who will step into a leading role in 2021-22. Nadia Kaiser, Olivia Anderson, Brooklyn Osbourne, Emma Thul and Reece Ettinger all averaged under a point per game last season.
Those departing for the Eagles include their 4 leading scorers from 2020-21, including Lea Friedl, Ariane Lyman, Kaitlin Sampson and Megan Sampson. Friedl lead the team in scoring with 8.5 PPG, as well as 3 rebounds and 1 assist per contest. Kaitlin Sampson averaged 7.5 PPG, while Ariane Lyman averaged 7.4 PPG, along with 3.5 RPG.
The Eagles open their season on November 29th, with a matchup against county-rival Clarion-Goldfield-Dows at 6 PM.
