The South Hamilton school district has seen an increase in its enrollment numbers for the 2021-22 school year.At their meeting on Monday night, South Hamilton superintendent Heather Holm reported to the board that the district certified enrollment was at 631 resident students as of October 1,2021 which is 10 more students than the previous year.The total number of students attending the South Hamilton Community School District was at 680 which is 8 more students than the previous year. The board welcomed the positive development.
The South Hamilton board approved a request to the School Board Review Committee for $77,671 in Modified Supplemental Amount funds to provide on-time funding for the increase in enrollment from the previous year.. A bid from Cisco Meraki for a five year firewall subscription was approved. Next spring’s South Hamilton Prom will be celebrated in Webster City at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. The board approved the rental agreement with the fair board for the prom next April.
There will be a price increase for adults when it comes to lunches at South Hamilton. The school board approved a ten cent increase from the current $3.85 to the new price of $3.95 starting January 1,2022. The board approved the acknowledgement of the intentions of the district’s Instructional Support Levy. They include the continuation the levy for five more years which would be the 2024-28 fiscal years with a 10 percent maximum levy and funding the levy with a combination of property tax and income tax.
In other matters, the South Hamilton board approved two fund raising requests for a post prom 3 on 3 basketball tournament on March 5, 2022 and the sale of Little Caesars Pizza Kits to fund the prom for next spring with the sale from January 24 through February 10,2022. In personnel matters, the South Hamilton school board accepted the resignations of Kyle Galetich as head baseball coach and Dave Mittlestadt as custodian effective on March 30,2022. Contracts were approved for Kathy Cordes as interim secondary counselor on an as needed basis, Jaci Edeker and Robin Hovick in the food service department and Holly Herrick as an elementary special education associate.
There were good numbers for parents attending the recent conferences at South Hamilton. Preparations for Thursday’s Veterans Day service at South Hamilton high school with the ceremony to honor area veterans in serving our country. It will be held in the high school gymnasium at 8:30 Thursday morning.
