The Webster City Lynx Boys Basketball team will look to bounce back in the 2021-22 season, following a below .500 campaign in 2020-21. The season saw the Lynx finish 8-12, and place 6th in the North Central Conference standings.
The Lynx lose some key members of last year’s squad in Tyler Olson and Tavis Eklund. Eklund was tied for the top scorer a season ago with Ty McKinney, while Tyler Olson averaged nearly 11 points, as well as 4 rebounds and just under 4 assists per game. Webster City also loses sharpshooter Trey Lyons, who shot just under 40% from three-point land last season.
Webster City does have some star power returning, however, as the Lynx bring back double digit scorers in guard Ty McKinney and forward Jamin Stuhr. Both players averaged 11 points per game or higher in 2020-21, while McKinney averaged 4.5 rebounds and just under 4 assists. Stuhr was the Lynx leading rebounder in 2020-21, averaging just under 6 rebounds per game. Beau Klaver is also expected to step into a larger role as a senior.
The season opener for Webster City is slated for November 30th, when the Lynx take a road trip west to face off with Pocahontas Area.
