
The Drake Bulldogs men’s basketball team opens their season on Tuesday night, as they host the Kohawks of Coe College at the Knapp Center. The Kohawks will make the 2-hour drive from Cedar Rapids to Des Moines, for their first matchup since November 2018.
Darian DeVries squad returns a large portion of their NCAA Tournament squad from a season ago, including stars such as Tremell Murphy and Tank Hemphill. The duo combined to average 24.2 points per game a season ago, combined with the addition of prized-recruit Tucker DeVries, the Bulldogs have a dynamic scoring trio. Other notable returnees include Newton-native Garrett Sturtz, Darnell Brodie, Roman Penn and DJ Wilkins.
Koe College defeated Cornell College on Monday night, by a final of 78-62, as the Kohawks were lead by Jarad Kruse, who scored a game-high 21 points. Sam Auen contributed 18 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Ray Thrapp also scored in double-figures for the Kohawks.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 PM at the Knapp Center in Des Moines.
