The Drake Bulldogs men’s basketball team opened their season on Thursday night with an exhibition rout of the Drury Panthers, 96-49. The Bulldogs are fresh off of their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2008, a season ago.
The Bulldogs were lead in scoring by 6th-man Okay Djamgouz, who poured in 16 points off the bench, with 4 three pointers. Tremell Murphy added 13 points, as did freshman Tucker DeVries, in the first collegiate game for the prized recruit. As for the Drury Panthers, who compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference at the Division II level, they did not have a scorer surpass double digits on Thursday night, and only shot 30% from the field on the night.
The Bulldogs will open the regular season on November 9th, as they host Coe College at the Knapp Center in Des Moines. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 PM.
