The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team opened their season on Thursday night with a blowout win of the Truman State Bulldogs in exhibition play, 102-32. The Bulldogs had faced off with UNI on Tuesday night.
Caitlin Clark started her sophomore season where she left off from her freshman season, as the star point guard dropped 25 points, as well as tallying 8 rebounds and 9 assists. McKenna Warnock was the Hawkeyes second leading scorer, as she managed 18 points, along with 10 rebounds for a double-double. Freshman Addison O’Grady surprised many with 19 points in her first game as a Hawkeye.
Truman State was lead in scoring by Hannah Belanger, who scored a team-high 14 points, including a pair of three-pointers. The Bulldogs second leading scorer was Allison Thomas, who contributed 6 points.
Iowa will open the regular season against New Hampshire on November 9th at 6 PM in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
