The UNI women’s basketball team opened their season on Tuesday night as they hosted the Bulldogs of Truman State at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, for an exhibition matchup. The Panthers defeated the Bulldogs by a final of 83-58.
The Panthers scoring leaders on the night were starting center Cynthia Wolf and backup forward Grace Boffeli, each of whom tallied 14 points on Tuesday night. Fellow starters Karli Rucker and Bre Gunnels added 8 points, while Nicole Kroeger and Kam Finley added 6 and 5 points respectively.
Truman State, who will face the Iowa Hawkeyes on Thursday, were led by the play of forward Ellie Weltha, who tallied a game-high 19 points on Tuesday, with 7 rebounds. Hannah Belanger added 13 points, but the remainder of the Bulldogs starting lineup were held to 4 total points.
Next action for the Panthers will be a road trip south to face off with the Saint Louis Billikens on November 9th, tipoff is slated for 4 PM.
