The Drake Bulldog women’s basketball team took care of business in Game 1 of the post Jennie Barancyzk-era, with an 86-59 win over the NAIA Grand View Vikings.
Allison Pohlman’s first game at the helm in the Knapp Center showcased a breakout performance from Iowa-transfer Megan Meyer, who had a team-high 20 points for the Bulldogs. Indianola-native Grace Berg started her 2nd season as a starter on the right foot, as the one-time Missouri transfer added 16 points and 7 rebounds. Anna Miller, Maggie Bair and Katie Dinnebier all-finished with double-digit scoring.
Grand View was lead in scoring by Natalie Rigatuso, who finished with 13 points and four three’s. Isabel Gscheidle added 11 points off the bench for the Vikings.
Next action for the Drake women will be on Saturday, as they host the Minnesota State Mavericks in a second exhibition game at the Knapp Center in Des Moines.
