The Hamilton County Conservation Board Thursday morning voted to keep the reservation site information system for both Briggs Woods and Little Wall Lake parks. The information system will allow campers make reservations for the specific dates they want to camp and on rates for next season. The outdoor camping season is winding down in all of the county parks . Conservation director Brian Lammers said the water at all camp sites will be shut down next week. Another year of golf at Briggs Woods Golf Course is ending. The golf course club house will close for the season next week. The irrigation system will be winterized as well starting next week. A review of the season at the course will be held at a future conservation board meeting.
A contract with Astra Security of Ankeny was approved for a new security system at the Briggs Woods Golf Course club house was approved by the board. The contract was for $4,474.
In another matter, the Hamilton County conservation board approved a request from ITC Midwest for the construction of overhead power lines for a new electric substation on Saratoga Road near Jewell along the Jewellsworth Trail. The work on the project will begin sometime in 2022.
The recent Halloween activities at both Briggs Woods and Little Wall Lake parks were a tremendous success. Visitors enjoyed hayrack rides around the parks, trick or treating at the campsites, and star gazing at Briggs Woods Park.
The next meeting of the Hamilton County Conservation Board will be on Tuesday, November 23 at 9:30 a.m. at the conservation office at Briggs Woods Park.
