The Iowa State Cyclones got back on the conference title track last Saturday, with their upset of then-8th-ranked Oklahoma State by a 24-21 final score in Jack Trice Stadium. The win vaulted Iowa State back into the Big 12 Title discussion and proved the Cyclones will be up to the task to compete with the Big 12’s best.
Iowa State has been lead offensively by the play of senior quarterback Brock Purdy, who has thrown 760 yards and 7 touchdowns in the Cyclones 3 consecutive wins, while not turning the football over in any fashion. Breece Hall continues to improve as the season wears on, as the junior back currently has 818 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. Will McDonald continues to terrorize quarterbacks, as he is currently tied for 2nd in the nation with 7.5 sacks, after 2 sacks in the 4th quarter against Oklahoma State.
West Virginia enters Saturday with a 3-4 record, but snapped a 3-game losing streak against TCU last Saturday, with a 29-17 win over the Horned Frogs. Quarterback Jarret Doege has thrown for 1,701 yards and 8 touchdowns in the Mountaineers Air Raid attack, while Leddie Brown has rushed for 533 yards and 9 touchdowns. Winston Wright is West Virginia’s leading receiver with 423 yards on 36 catches.
