Clarion-Goldfield-Dows made the trip west to Storm Lake on Tuesday night to face off with Class 3A #7 Unity Christian, in the Class 3A, Region 3 final, with the winner advancing to the state tournament in Cedar Rapids.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows picked up the first two points of the opening set, before an offensive onslaught, compounded with self-inflicted errors set the Cowgirls spiraling very quickly. CGD did make a run after trailing as much as 14-3, but it wasn’t enough as Unity Christian took set 1, 25-15.
Set 2 was dominated on the outset by the Knights, as they rolled through the Cowgirls to take a 2-0 lead, by a score of 25-10. Set 3 was much of the same, as Unity Christian clinched their 8th consecutive postseason appearance, winning the 3rd set by a score of 25-11 and the match 3-0.
Junior Lexie Lane finished with 8 kills on the night, while Indy Johnson and Ady Askelsen combined for 11 assists. Lexie Lane and Clarissa Hasty both recorded 10 digs each, while Lane and Hasty also tallied a block as well. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows ends its season at 19-16, Unity Christian will face West Delaware in the 1st round of the Class 3A State Tournament.
