Eagle Grove played their first playoff game in over a decade on Friday night, as the Eagles traveled east to face off with Wolverines of Dike-New Hartford. Dike-New Hartford held a 4-0 series lead, with the last matchup coming in 2013 between the two schools.
The game started inauspiciously for both sides, aside from an early touchdown pass from Jacob Stockdale to Devon Kollasch, to put Dike-New Hartford up 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Wolverines would get on the board again early in the 2nd quarter, as running back Jerek Hall broke off a 42-yard touchdown run to put the Wolverines up 14-0. The Wolverines would continue to methodically pick apart Eagle Grove on both sides, as Dike-New Hartford would score two defensive touchdowns in the game as well, and held a 35-0 halftime lead. The Wolverines tacked on a pair more touchdowns in the 2nd half to claim a 49-0 win over Eagle Grove.
Eagle Grove concludes its season at 3-6, but the season became a stepping stone for the program. Dike-New Hartford advances to the 2nd round, where they will face the Eagles of Pella Christian.
