Clarion-Goldfield-Dows continued their postseason on Wednesday night, as they faced off with a familiar foe in the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets. The Cowgirls defeated the Cadets by a score of 3-1 earlier this season.
The Cadets were the ones that started out of the gate hot, as they picked up an opening set win by a score of 25-21. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would roar back in the 2nd set, dominating the Cadets en route to a 25-12 win in set 2. Set 3 was much more even, as both teams traded leads back and forth, before the Cowgirls eeked out a 26-24 win to lead 2-1. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows was able to keep the Cadets at arms length in the 4th set, taking home a 25-17 win, and a 3-1 victory.
Lexie Lane was, again, the star for the Cowgirls collecting 15 kills on the night. Setters Indy Johnson and Ady Askelsen continued their high-level play as of late, collecting 18 and 19 assists respectively. Nikki Kapka had a very productive night on the nets, totaling 3 blocks, while Lexie Lane finished with 26 digs.
With the win, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows advances to the Class 3A, Region 3 final, as they will face #7 Unity Christian on Tuesday night, at Storm Lake High School. 95.7 KQWC will have live, play-by-play coverage of the match.
