Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball team opened up regional play with a familiar foe in conference rival Hampton-Dumont-CAL. CGD downed the Bulldogs in Hampton earlier this season by a score of 3-0.
The Cowgirls got off to a hot start in set 1, grabbing the lead and not looking back as they earned a 25-14 win. CGD continued to strengthen their grip on the match, taking set 2 by a final of 25-13, before saving their best effort for last, holding the Bulldogs to single digits in a 25-9, set 3 to take the match 3-0.
Junior Lexie Lane finished the night with 9 kills, while Nikki Kapka had 7, along with Summer Traub’s 6. Indy Johnson finished with 16 assists, while Ady Askelsen finished with 14. Lexie Lane and junior Karlee Lehman were the top net defenders, with 2 blocks each, while Clarissa Hasty finished with 11 digs.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows advances to play Iowa Falls-Alden on Wednesday night, while Hampton-Dumont-CAL’s season ends with a 3-25 record.
