The Webster City Lynx came into Thursday night with an opportunity to clinch a share of the conference title, if Humboldt fell to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. But, the Lynx needed to take care of the foes in front of them, the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets.
Webster City started slow out of the gate, as the Cadets were able to steal set 1 by a score of 25-23. The Lynx, however, stormed back in set 2 behind the hitting of Sierra Rattenborg to earn a 25-17 victory. The Lynx only tightened their grip from there, as they scored another 25-17 victory in set 3, before blowing out the Cadets in set 4, 25-10, to earn a 3-1 victory.
Sierra Rattenborg had a dominating night from her outside hitter spot, collecting 17 kills on the night. Joslin Gourley accumulated 30 assists on the night, while Livia Kasch and Abby Gallantine tallied 4 blocks each. Alanya Finucan tied the school record in aces on Thursday night as well.
With the win, Webster City clinched a runner-up finish in the North Central Conference.
