Clarion-Goldfield-Dows entered Thursday night with a chance to surprise everybody, not just for upsetting the #14 team in Class 4A, but also to claim a share of the North Central Conference crown, if they could take down the Wildcats. Humboldt had other plans, however.
Humboldt was able to storm out to an early 8-2 lead over the Cowgirls, before CGD was able to scratch and claw their way back. However, Humboldt kept them at arms length, and took set 1, 25-18. The Wildcats came out and dominated the 2nd set, taking in a 25-13 win. CGD would give their best effort in set 3, keeping it knotted with Humboldt throughout most of the set, before the Wildcats secures a 25-16 win and a conference championship.
Lexie Lane lead the way offensively on Thursday, as she finished with 7 kills on the night. Indy Johnson and Sydney Friseleben finished with 3 assists each, while Lexie Lane and Nikki Kapka had 1 block each.
With the loss, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows receives a 3rd-place finish in the North Central Conference.
