The Webster City Lynx football team will travel north to Storm Lake on Friday to face the Tornadoes in Class 4A, District 1 action. The Lynx are 3-4-1 all-time against Storm Lake, with the first meeting in 1905, and Webster City winning the last meeting in 2013.
The Tornadoes come into Friday night with an 0-7 record and have decided to forge on and play the Lynx, even with a number of players out due to injury and illness. Storm Lake has been lead by junior quarterback Joshua Steffem, who’s thrown for 232 yards on the season. The Tornadoes have seen 5 different players surpass 100+ yards rushing on the season as well. Storm Lake’s defense has been anchored by the duo of Brody Boeckman and Trevor Turner.
Webster City enters Friday night following a massive victory over the Spencer Tigers, which gave the Lynx a leg up in the district title race. Four different backs for the Lynx have surpassed the 300-yard mark on the season, with CJ Hisler leading the charge at 580 yards and 4 touchdowns. Jaxon Cherry and Connor Hanson have combined for nearly 800 yards and 11 touchdowns. Quarterback Ty McKinney has thrown for 374 yards and 6 touchdowns, while rushing for another 310 yards and 5 touchdowns.
