Clarion-Goldfield-Dows made their final road trip of the regular season to Spirit Lake, to take on the 9th-ranked Indians in district play. The Cowboys are still in search of their first district win in the powerhouse of Class 2A, District 2.
Spirit Lake opened the game with a short Carver Jongjohan touchdown run to put the Indians up 6-0. The CGD defense did a superb job of slowing down an explosive Spirit Lake offense in the first half. Spirit Lake would punch in it’s second touchdown halfway through the 2nd quarter to put the Indians up 13-0. The Cowboys would get on the board soon thereafter, with a short touchdown run by Preston Gardner, to cut the score to 13-6. Spirit Lake got the ball back after turning it over on the prior possession, and Riley Reynolds went up top to Carver Jungjohan to give the Indians a 20-6 halftime lead.
From there on out, the Indians poured it on the Cowboys, offensively. Spirit Lake tacked on 4 touchdowns in the 3rd quarter alone, to push the score to 48-6. The Indians would add a a garbage time touchdown to give the final score of 55-6.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows will wrap up its season on Friday, with a senior night matchup against Class 2A #4 OABCIG.
