Clarion-Goldfield-Dows hosted the Gaels of Fort Dodge, St. Edmond on Thursday night, for a North Central Conference matchup. The Cowgirls are currently tied for second in the conference with Webster City having the head-to-head advantage. St. Edmond entered with a 6-13 record on the season.
The Cowgirls started hot on Thursday night, opening up a 7-2 lead in the first set, that they never relinquished as they took set 1, 25-12. St. Edmonds would make things interesting in set 2, competing neck and neck with CGD before the Cowgirls scored a 25-22 victory. CGD would cap the night off in dominating fashion, taking set 3, 25-13 to give the Cowgirls the sweep.
Lexie Lane was dominant once again on Thursday, finishing with 18 kills and .333 efficiency rating. Sydney Friesleben and Indy Johnson tallied 10 assists each, while Summer Traub finished with 2 blocks.
