The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows football team will look to regroup quickly, following a 62-31 loss to #1 Southeast Valley on Friday, as they head up to the Okoboji region to face off with Class 2A #4 Spirit Lake on Friday night. The Indians are 4-0 all-time against the Cowboys, the first meeting coming back in 2012, and Spirit Lake winning the last meeting in 2019, 57-8.
Senior quarterback Riley Reynolds leads a high-flying passing attack for the Indians, as he’s throw for 1,070 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season, while rushing for 312 yards and 5 touchdowns as well. Jack Latham is the outstanding receiver for Spirit Lake, as he’s caught 26 passes for 452 yards and 3 touchdowns. Qai Hussey and Carver Jungjohan have combined for over 400 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns on the season.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows enters behind the outstanding play of quarterback Preston Gardner. Gardner has thrown for 751 yards and 8 touchdowns, while rushing for another 511 yards and 6 touchdowns on the season. Neven Foss is the Cowboys lead back, with 276 yards and 5 touchdowns this season. The receiving duo of Coady Olson and Jaxon Carpenter have accounted 704 of the Cowboys 827 receiving yards, and have caught all 9 touchdown passes for the Cowboys offense.
