The Webster City football team will look to build off their massive win on Friday against Fort Dodge, as they host the LeMars Bulldogs on Friday night in a homecoming showdown for the Lynx. The Lynx lead the all-time series 6-3, with the first meeting between the two schools coming in 1947, the last meeting coming in 1985.
LeMars enters with a similar record of 3-2, with wins against Sioux City Bishop Heelan, MOC-Floyd Valley and Storm Lake, and losses to Class 3A #8 Sergeant Bluff-Lutton and Sioux City East. Senior quarterback Tyler Iverson leads the Bulldogs offense, throwing for 443 yards and 3 touchdowns, but having thrown 4 interceptions as well. The 1-2 punch of David Leusink and Elijah Dougherty at running back has combined for 649 yards and 4 touchdowns. Defensively, sophomore Alex Allen has been a rising star, amassing 7.5 tackles for loss through the 1st half of the season.
Webster City, coming in off their 41-14 domination of Fort Dodge, saw perhaps their best all-around performance of the season against the Dodgers. Not one Lynx back surpassed 100 yards rushing, but the Lynx backfield amassed over 300 yards on the ground on Friday night. All 4 Lynx backs have over 200 yards rushing, and are lead by CJ Hisler’s 422 yards on the ground. Keegan Hisler has become the Lynx X-factor on defense, with another big night against Fort Dodge, including a late pick-six.
Kickoff is slated for 7 PM at Lynx Field. Listen to coverage of the game on 95.7 KQWC with Jerry Klaver.
