South Hamilton volleyball looked to push their conference record above .500 on Tuesday night, but in order to do so, they were tasked with taking down longtime Heart of Iowa power Nevada. The Cubs came in with a 12-15 record, and a 5-1 performance at the Nevada Tournament on Saturday.
Set 1 saw the Hawks keep pace with Nevada throughout most of the set, before the Cubs pulled away late to score a set 1 win, 25-17. Nevada then preyed off of South Hamilton mistakes in set 2, running their lead to as high as 14-2, before taking down the Hawks in set 2 by a score of 25-12. South Hamilton did not go quietly, pushing Nevada to the limit in set 3, before the Cubs finally got over the hump to score a 25-21 win, and a sweep of South Hamilton.
Nevada was lead by senior Mayzi Weig, who finished with 8 kills, while senior Maddie Dunham had 5 kills. Mady Gibson finished with 17 assists on the night.
