The South Hamilton volleyball team will host the Nevada Cubs on Tuesday night, in one of the bigger Heart of Iowa Conference matchups this week. Nevada, a traditional volleyball power in the Heart of Iowa, is in a down year with just a 12-15 record, although the Cubs did finish 4-1 in the Nevada Tournament on Saturday.
The Cubs are lead by the assist-kill combo of setter Mady Gibson and senior Mayzi Weig. Gibson has 411 assists on the season, while Weig leads the team in kills with 137. Nevada is also lead by 2-way star Shelbi Hazlitt, who has 112 kills and 57 blocks on the season. Freshman Dakota Hendricks leads the team in digs with 287, while second on the team in aces with 35.
South Hamilton has been lead by the 1-2 punch of Caleigh Hewitt and Mackenzy Grady, who have combined for 144 kills this season. Trista Strohman and Paige Evans have been a consistent setting duo, combining for 252 assists on the season as well.
