The South Hamilton Hawks bounced back following back-to-back losses with a district-opening win on Friday against Belmond-Klemme, by a score of 38-7. This Friday, South Hamilton will make the trek south into Dallas County to take on the Woodward-Granger Hawks. South Hamilton leads the all-time series 9-6, with the first meeting coming back in 1988.
Woodward-Granger comes in fresh off their first district win as they took down Eagle Grove 42-0 a week ago. WG quarterback Carter Moran had a career-night against the Eagles, scoring 6 total touchdowns, 3 through the air and 3 on the ground. Moran has thrown for 6 touchdowns at the halfway mark of the season, while rushing for 7 more. Dustin Harney has been the Hawks outstanding runner so far, rushing for 379 yards and 4 touchdowns. Dane Polich and Brody Nardini continue to lead the receivers for WG.
South Hamilton saw their wishbone rushing attack return to form last Friday as the Hawks racked up 353 yards against Belmond-Klemme. Fullback Austin Busch got his first action of the season, rushing for just under 100 yards and 2 touchdowns. Landen Skartvedt was the top rusher with 160 yards against the Broncos and leads the team with 547 rushing yards on the season. Tycin Barkema has also begun hitting his stride as a rusher as well.
