Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Friday as they travel west to take on the Indians of Pocahontas Area. Pocahontas was blown out by #3 Spirit Lake last Friday, 52-9. Pocahontas Area leads the all-time series 3-1, dating back to the schools’ first meeting in 1926.
The Indians are lead by do-it-all quarterback Chase Boysen. Boysen has thrown for 268 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 326 yards and 3 touchdowns. The other two-thirds of the Indians three-headed rushing attack include backs Alex Welander and Ruger Bunda, who have combined for 386 yards and 3 touchdowns at the halfway point of the season. Chase Cook has been the outstanding receiver so far, hauling in 11 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows continues to follow the lead of quarterback Preston Gardner. While Gardner was contained as a runner against Estherville-Lincoln Central, he threw for a pair of touchdowns without turning the ball over on Friday. Garrett Seaba has emerged as the “thunder” to Neven Foss’s “lightning” in the Cowboys backfield. Coady Olson and Jaxon Carpenter put together season-best performances against ELC.
Kickoff will come at 7 PM from Pocahontas Area High School on Friday.
