Webster City came into Tuesday night’s game with Humboldt with conference title implications on the line. The Lynx and the Wildcats were and 2 in the conference standings, and the winner would gain a leg up on the conference title race. It was Humboldt would emerge as the front-runner following a 3-0 win on Tuesday night.
The Wildcats jumped on the Lynx early in Set 1, at one point ahead 8-1. The Lynx fought back, but could never get over the hump as they fell 25-20 in the first set. Set 2 was dominated by Humboldt, as Webster City could not find the rhythm offensively, and fell 25-14. Set 3 would be the best set of the night, and saw the Lynx push the Wildcats into extra points, but all Humboldt would need to get to is 26, as they won Set 3 26-24 to sweep the Lynx.
Marrissa Kaufman and Addie Thompson were the star hitters for Humboldt with 13 kills and 11 kills, respectively. Livvy Becker had a phenomenal night at setter, finishing with 40 assists. Shelbie Heinz had a monster night defensively, finishing with 7 blocks on the night. Webster City was lead by Sierra Rattenborg’s 12 kills, while Reese Casey finished with 8. Joslin Gourley finished with 25 assists, and Abby Gallantine and Sierra Rattenborg finished with 2 blocks each.
