Eagle Grove opened up district play in Class 1A, District 2 as they hosted the Hawks of Woodward-Granger. Eagle Grove was searching for their 1st district win since beating Ogden in October 2017, while Woodward-Granger was looking to keep pace in the district with South Hamilton and South Central Calhoun.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, the night belonged to Woodward-Granger quarterback Carter Moran, who accounted for a 6 Hawks touchdowns. Moran started his night with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Dylan McCaulley to put the Hawks up 7-0. After the 2nd of the 3 consecutive Eagle Grove fumbles, WG punched a 2-yard touchdown run by Carter Moran to set the score at 14-0. The result of the Eagles 3rd fumble was another Carter Moran touchdown run, to give Woodward-Granger a 21-0 lead at the end of the 1st.
The Hawks would keep their foot on the gas in the 2nd, as the first play of the quarter resulted in a 19-yard touchdown pass from Carter Moran to Ethan Moats to put WG up 28-0. Woodward-Granger would strike again towards the end of the half, as Carter Moran threw his 3rd touchdown pass of the half to Dustin Harney, that put the Hawks up 35-0 going into halftime. Carter Moran would punch in the final touchdown of the night on a 21-yard run to give Woodward-Granger a 42-0 win.
Eagle Grove falls to 1-3 with the loss and will face South Central Calhoun on Friday. Woodward-Granger moves to 3-1 and will host South Hamilton on Friday in the KZWC Game of the Week.
