The South Hamilton cross country teams made the trek southeast to Zearing on Thursday, to compete in the Colo-NESCO Invitational. Teams that competed included the host Royals, Ankeny Christian, West Marshall, Colfax-Mingo, GMG, North Tama and Meskwaki Settlement.
The South Hamilton girls took home the team title on Thursday night with a score of 40 points, finishing 4 points below 2nd-place finishers North Tama, and 5 points below 3rd-place West Marshall. North Tama and West Marshall occupied spots 1-4, but South Hamilton placed 5th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 13th and 20th to take the win. The Hawks top placer was Annika Kienzle, who finished 5th in a time of 24:06, Madison Beaune finished 6th with a time of 24:10.
The South Hamilton boys took home 3rd on Thursday night, as they finished behind West Marshall and team champion Ankeny Christian. The Hawks top finisher was Landon Grove, who took 3rd in a time of 19:24. The 2nd-highest finisher was Eli Potter, who finished in a time of 20:47 seconds.
