The Eagle Grove Eagles followed their win against MVAOCOU in Week 2 with a hard-fought, 20-0 loss to West Central Valley. The Eagles go into district play 1-2, and open up with the Hawks of Woodward-Granger in a battle of the birds. Woodward-Granger leads the all-time series between the schools, 2-0, with the last meeting coming in 2011.
Woodward-Granger closed non-district play with a 2-1 record, with wins against Madrid and Interstate 35, with a blowout loss to AC/GC sandwiched in the middle. The Hawks are lead by first-year coach Cory Crkovich, who has a veteran core to work with. Junior quarterback Carter Moran has thrown for 408 yards and 4 touchdowns, while rushing for 153 yards and 4 more touchdowns. Senior running back Dustin Harney has rushed for 237 yards and 4 touchdowns, while Dane Polich and Brody Nardini have lead the way in the passing game.
Eagle Grove quarterback Tate Richardson will look to bounce back after throwing 3 interceptions against a stingy West Central Valley defense, while Jake Jeske, Blake Morgan and Roberto Calles all continue to run hard in the Eagles flexbone attack.
Kickoff is slated for 7 PM at Eagle Grove Elementary School.
