Clarion-Goldfield-Dows comes into Week 3 of the high school football season with one of the most explosive offenses in Class 2A, as they 79 points combined against Wright County rivals Eagle Grove and Belmond-Klemme. The Cowboys will open district play in Week 3 as they travel north to face the Indians of Forest City.
Forest City comes into Week 3 with a 1-1 record, following a shutout, 49-0 loss to Spirit Lake. The Indians, who defeated Lake Mills in Week 1, have been lead by trio of young running backs, in juniors Andy Olson and Robay Birri, and sophomore Jack Thompson. The three have combined for 297 of the Indians 366 rushing yards in 2021, while quarterback Carter Bruckoff has yet to throw an interception this season.
The Cowboys had a huge performance from backup quarterback Preston Gardner in Week 2, who amassed nearly 300 yards of total offense and 3 touchdowns against Belmond-Klemme. Neven Foss continues to lead the Cowboys rushing attack with 143 yards and 4 touchdowns through the first 2 weeks of the season, while Cale Kirstein and Garrett Seaba have also gave valuable carries.
