The Webster City Lynx cross country team trekked east on Tuesday to compete in the Dick Pollitt Go-Hawk Classic in Waverly. The Lynx boys were joined by ranked foes in the host Go-Hawks, ranked #7 in Class 3A, as well as 3A #8 Western Dubuque, 3A#13 Decorah, 3A #18 Center Point-Urbana, Class 2A #12 Waukon, 2A #13 Jesup, 2A #17 Denver, and 2A #19 New Hampton.
The meet was split up by underclass and upperclass, which pitted freshman and sophomores in a race, and juniors and seniors in a race. The Lynx did not place in either freshman or sophomore category, but the top Lynx runner in the race was sophomore Aiden Rahe, who ran a time of 20:53. In the junior/senior race, Webster City did not place in the junior section, but the senior section placed 10th, with the top Lynx time coming from junior Jose Ramirez.
On the girls side, the meet included Class 3A #8 Western Dubuque, 3A #14 Center Point-Urbana, 3A #18 Waverly-Shell Rock, Class 2A #2 Denver, 2A #4 Jesup, and Class 1A #2 Hudson. The meet, split like the boys, saw the Lynx freshman place 12th, but the Lynx did not have any sophomores compete. The top time for the Lynx underclassmen was freshman Aryana Toftee in a time of 33:19. The Lynx upperclassmen saw the juniors not place, but the seniors finish 10th, with the top time from junior Emma Peck at 23:59.
