The South Hamilton cross country team made the trek east on Highway 175 to Eldora to compete in the South Hardin invitational at the Eldora Country Club on Thursday. The Hawks were joined by 11 other teams, including fellow Heart of Iowa Conference member West Marshall.
The Hawks girls finished 6th out of 12 teams on Thursday, with a team score of 184 on the night. Madison Beaune was the top runner for the Hawks, finishing 31st in a time of 24:34. Annika Kienzle was stride for stride with Beaune, as she also finished with time of 24:34, finishing mere hundredths of a second behind Beaune for a 32nd place finish. Paige Doolittle finished 25th, Anna Lammers finished 36th, Mercedes Beaune finished 50th, while Val Wagner and McKenna Miller finished 57th and 64th, respectively.
The South Hamilton boys finished 8th out of 12 teams on Thursday night, with a team score of 225. Landon Grove was the top runner for the boys, finishing 23rd in a time of 20:05. Junior Eli Potter finished 47th in a time of 21:29. Logan Halfwassen finished 49th, Pete Coburn finished 51st, Bobby Tanner finished 55th, Colton Fink finished 57th, and Ben Bailey finished 59th.
