The Associated Press released their annual preseason college football poll at 11 AM Monday morning. It was expected both Iowa and Iowa State would be included in the preseason poll, and those expectations were met.

Iowa State came in ranked #7 in the preseason poll, the highest preseason ranking in the history of Iowa State football. Matt Campbell, who is entering his 6th season in Ames, has raised expectations to levels never seen in program history, and will look to bring home the Cyclones first conference title in over a century.
The Iowa Hawkeyes were ranked #18 in the preseason poll, the 9th time the Hawkeyes have been ranked in the preseason AP Poll under Kirk Ferentz. Iowa is coming off a shortened 2020 season due to COVID-19, but finished the year with a six-game winning streak after starting the year 0-2, and look to be key players in the Big Ten West in 2021.
