Cordero was hospitalized in late March and, shortly after, was placed on a ventilator. He suffered a series of lung infections and also had one of his legs amputated.
“God has another angel in heaven now,” Kloots, a fitness trainer, announced on Instagram. “He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.”
“I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him,” she continued. “Nick was such a bright light.”
The fitness trainer remained upfront with fans about her husband’s lengthy battle against COVID-19 and always maintained her optimism that he’d regain consciousness and recover.
“To Nicks extraordinary doctor, Dr. David Ng, you were my positive doctor! There are not many doctors like you,” Kloots added. “Kind, smart, compassionate, assertive and always eager to listen to my crazy ideas or call yet another doctor for me for a second opinion. You’re a diamond in the rough.”
The widow extended a heartfelt message to her family, friends and fans who continually sent in their well wishes and checked in on her husband’s progress during the 95 days he was hospitalized.
“You have no idea how much you lifted my spirits at 3pm everyday as the world sang Nicks song, Live Your Life. We sang it to him today, holding his hands,” Kloots concluded. “He definitely put up a fight. I will love you forever and always my sweet man.”
Cordero also leaves behind a son, one-year-old Elvis. He and Kloots married in 2017.
