Sarah Michelle Gellar jokes she’s been “beeped” to stop the COVID-19 apocalypse

ABC/Eric McCandless(LOS ANGELES) — Buffy Summers once famously said, “If the apocalypse comes, beep me.”

Now, nearly 23 years after she spoke that famous line in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar says fate has called upon her once again to stop certain catastrophe — the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Hmmmm…….. found this on my walk today,” the 42-year-old actress contemplated on Tuesday after finding a rather large stake on the ground during her morning walk.  Gellar, dressed in all black, smirks as she hoists the three-foot-long spear in the air.

The actress also included a photo on her Instagram stories of when she first discovered Mr. Pointy 2.0.  The stake was literally lying right in front of her on the road, as if waiting to be discovered.

Sarah instantly played on a meme about that throwback Buffy episode, which demands “somebody beep this woman” as a result of the ongoing pandemic.

Gellar flexes her comedic timing in her next story update, adding the photo of her posing with the stake — along with the simple caption, “Beeped.”

Shortly after picking up the stake, Sarah was apparently met with a rainbow and included a photo of it to her stories with the uplifting caption “Hope.”

It is unknown exactly how the Slayer will fight a microscopic virus with a weapon made for fighting full-sized vampires, but she may have something slightly more effective in her arsenal — plenty of Lysol wipes.

The actress previously revealed that she always carries around a tube by joking, “You guys, I’ve been carrying these accessories before they were all the rage.  Who knew they would become collector items?!?”
