Getty Images/CBS Photo Archive/Contributor(LOS ANGELES) — Julianna Marguilies told Deadline back in February that she “really wanted to” reprise her Good Wife role of Alicia Florek on the CBS All-Access spin-off The Good Fight, but at the time, she said, “The deal didn’t happen.”
Now Marguilies, who won two Emmys for her role in the CBS political drama, makes it plain why it didn’t happen: “CBS wouldn’t pay me.”
She explained to Deadline that she was “really excited” about doing a three-episode run on the spin-off, but the network didn’t want to pony up her Good Wife rate. Instead, she says, she would have been paid as a Good Fight guest star.
No go, the actress explained.
“I’m not a guest star; I started the whole thing with The Good Wife. I wanted to be paid my worth and stand up for equal pay,” she noted. “If Jon Hamm came back for a Mad Men spinoff or Kiefer Sutherland wanted to do a 24 spinoff, they would be paid.”
