Camilla Cabello is first woman in three years to hit #1 with a debut album

SYCO/Epic RecordsOoh na-na! Camila Cabello’s debut solo album Camila has debuted at #1 on the Billboard album chart.

According to Billboard, that makes the former Fifth Harmony member the first woman in three years to top the chart with a debut album. The last woman to do it was Meghan Trainor in 2015, with Title.  Camila’s album, which features the smash hit “Havana,” sold 119,000 units in its first week, better than expected.

Camila is also one of a handful of women who initially charted with a group before going on to hit #1 with a solo album.  Those women include, among others, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, Lauryn Hill, Stevie Nicks and Diana Ross.  With Fifth Harmony, Camila had three top 10 releases.

Finally, Camila is the youngest woman to debut at #1 with her first full-length album since 2013, when Ariana Grande did it with Yours Truly.  Camila is 20 years and 10 months old.  Ariana was 20 years and two months old.
