After a thrashing of the Boone Toreadors in Week 2, the Lynx welcome in the high-powered Go-Hawks of Waverly-Shell Rock on Friday night. The Go-Hawks come to Webster City with a pair of 40+ point wins over Waukon and Cresco, Crestwood and are ranked #6 in this week’s Radio Iowa Class 4A poll.
The Go-Hawks are led by the 1-2 rushing attack of McCrae Hagerty and Asa Newsome, who have combined for nearly 400 rushing yards in the seasons first two weeks. Newsome has been turning heads on the recruiting trail as well, holding scholarship offers from Iowa, Kansas State, Mizzou, Nebraska and South Dakota. Senior quarterback Grant Halverson has been efficient as can be, completing 70% of his passes for 4 touchdowns so far in 2021.
As for Webster City, CJ Hisler picked up the offense in Week 2, amassing over 200 yards of total offense and 3 touchdowns to speed the Lynx past Boone. Hisler currently has rushed for 202 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2021, with sophomore Jaxon Cherry right behind him with 103 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Junior quarterback Ty McKinney has done a great job of keeping the ball away from harm, as he has not thrown an interception in the first two games of the season. Jamin Stuhr and Keegan Hisler continue to make a lot of noise defensively for the Lynx.
Kickoff from Lynx Field will be at 7 PM on Friday, Jerry Klaver will have the call of the action on 95.7 KQWC starting at 6:30 PM.
